i was wondering how do you buff out a scratch.

If it is a minor scratch, a good hot-wax will fill it in - at least temporarily. If it is a deep scratch (like from hitting rocks) you will have to fill it with p-tex. Most people leave this stuff to the techies at the snowboard shop.
