Title: Another One Bites The Dust - Taos NM Opens To Snowboarders!
Post by: Frosty on March 19, 2008, 09:14:53 PM
Extra! Extra!  ...  Read All About  It!  Following the wake of such previously "Skier Only" mountains like Keystone and Aspen Highlands in Colorado, Taos New Mexico today started allowing snowboarders at their precious area.  This now leaves only Deer Valley, Utah; Alta, Utah; and Mad River Glen, Vt. holding out against shredders.  For more about this, read the article By Tom Boyd, Rocky Mountain News (http://dailycamera.com/news/2008/mar/19/taos-opens-snowboarders/).

i think its a great idea for these places to let snowboarders in. we usually ride in groups
and have a togetherness that not alot of ski groups have.
and the overall attitude of snowboarding has come down dramatically. so its a waste
for any good terrain mountain to limit or exclude snowboarders because of
a few bad apples in the 80's.

of course if its completely set up for skiiers, i say let em have it. we'll just build a better
resort ;)

that's some good news either way you look at it, what's really funny is the comments below the article!  Maaaan there's some bad blood between the two groups lol. The last time I went riding, I went with a friend who skis and has been doing so longer than I've been boarding. We smack talked a little bit, then we just decided to swap equipment one night and just try it. That was one of the funniest things I've ever done lol. There wasn't anymore smack talk for the rest of the trip though! I'm glad that there's another place that he and I could go to with no problems.
