What type of board should i get?
« on: February 01, 2005, 12:49:08 PM »
I went snowboarding in Canada for the first time for the week end.  I rented a board and i had a good time. I was wondering what a good board to get is for someone who is pretty good but still kinda learning.

Hey man there are more REALLY GOOD snowboards out there than one can shake an ice sickle at.  Overall, you tend to get what you pay for, but good deals can be found on sales at shops or online ( see my online shops page here ).

As for a certain company, it is hard to say.  There are certain long-time companies that have been in the biz from the beginning (i.e. Burton, Salomon, Winterstick, Sims, etc..) but even new and "unknown" board companies make excellent stuff!  Look at the length, width, recommended use, and graphics as determining factors.

My two favorites are The_House and DogFunk.  I have a page of top-rated online shops here:

If you have a decent snowboard shop or sporting goods store nearby, they are a good source as well.

Lol, well there are not really free boards.  You have to pay one way or another.  Just go with one you feel is best for you at the time and that you feel is a fair price.

Oh yeh, those are cool deals.  I love it when a shop is cool enough to consider somethign like that.  It usually means they really know their stuff and have good relationships with the manufacturers and reps and stuff.
