New gear for a GIANT RIDER!
« on: January 30, 2008, 09:49:17 PM »
I'm just about to make my first big gear purchase after a season of renting and I'm not your average rider size and I could use a few suggestions on a the items I've been looking at

My specs: 6'5", 230 lbs, 14.0 Boot
Riding Level: rusty intermediate
Riding Style: 65% freeride 35% freestyle
Riding Locations: Snowshoe MTN West VA, Massenutten VA, PA, NC

Gear that I've narrowed down for a purchase I'm about to make

Boards:
GNU 11-up 166 (standard version / not the mtx)
K2 After Black wide 163
k2 Select wide 162
Ride Yukon 164 or 168

Boots:
Vans BFB 14
Vans Hi Standard 14

Bindings:
Ride EX
Ride LX
Ride RX

I would greatly appreciate any comments or other options than listed (the list above also took into consideration ordering from a single store so I didn't look too much at other brands since gear for my size is sparse this time of year)

Thanks in advance for any help !

Justin

I can testify to Ride boards being very durable and long lasting compared to other brands -- an attribute that is very important for heavier riders.  Just my .02 :)
