I'm in the market for some new snowboard boots since I only have one pair that I bought used on Craigslist (a great resource for poor snowboarders btw).  I've been looking around and I'm a little confused about which kind of boots to buy.

I've always used the lace up boots, and for the most part I'm happy with it.  My only problem is the hassle it take to lace em up and  take em off.  Not that its takes forever, but if I can save a few minutes and enjoy the slopes a little more then I'm all for it.

Cable boots seem like a good alternative, all you have to do is turn a dial and they're on and ready to go.  But I'm a little nervous about buying them cuz I don't know what to do if the cable breaks.  How likely is it to break? If so, what do you do?  Can you buy a replacement cable or do they come with one?

Also if you know of any other type of boot please let me know.  Thanks!

Thanks a lot!  So are those only available w/ Burton or other brands too?

my burton boots have pull cords, at some point when I was riding today the lower zone cord totally broke. Has anyone ever had this problem before? I'm not sure how you even would fix this...I'm going to bring them back to where I bought them to see what they can do.  So I'm not sure if this is a common thing with pull cord boots.  These boots were just starting to feel nice and broke in.  I might go back to lace up boots, but was just wondering if anyone else has had a bad experience like this before.

good to know, I always do that and I have the same style of laces!  I'll have to stop doing that now

how much are replacement cords? ive always been curious about that.

maybe they'll hit it with the foot spray like the skating rink still, id take stinky foot cheese over not riding anyday!

well, its been cold here yes, but the resorts have been really weird about making snow. perfect north made some, and still has some, but one of my friends went and came back injured because it was almost all sheet ice. then theres north carolina which had 3 runs open, all shutes, not fun for a freestyle boarder that likes jumps, so im still just waiting.

BUT! we did get 4 inches of powder in my back yard last night, so i did get to ride and get my first injury.
little bottom bruise from trying to jump a trash can. haha. road ice got me good, but still was fun. heres a few pics, nothing from the riding but some of the snow.



being in my neighborhood riding with friends was kinda fun. the road iced over really bad, we were on our way to the skatepark. nice little warm up though. plus it was pretty warm!
