Is this board a little to small???
« on: February 01, 2007, 07:30:38 PM »
Hey, I started snowboarding beginning of this year and I was about to buy a snowboard but i got one for FREE!!! I'm 6'4 and 225 pounds, the board is 157 cm and 25 cm wide, is that too small. I understand that I need probably something around 160 cm, but is this really going to affect my ride. Oh and I'm also a size11.5 -12 boot size. Thanks.

Hey man, congrats on winning the board!
Yeh, it is a little too small.  It probably will not affect you your first few times out -- easier to ride with a board too small than too big for sure.  You probably won't care until you get into carving and if you get any toe-heel drag.  But if you cannot afford a new board, it should be fine using that one -- at least for a while.

Hey,
Thanks for the quick reply. From what I understand is that my board might be a little to thin instead of too short. I read another question somewhere in this forum and you seemed to think that a one inch boot overhang is no biggie. I truly don't think that I'm even going to have overhang, but I do see how I could drag if carve too much on toe or heel side. Time will tell I guess. Thanks for your help.

p.s. What are your thoughts on Heelside brand boards? Good, Bad? Thanks!!!!!
