Is my board too big
« on: September 12, 2006, 09:24:25 AM »
I just bought an Option Redline board for an unreal deal.........i am 173cm and 73kgs. the board is 163cm am i going to have a bad time on this board or is it suitable for me......

i have only snowboarded once and the board i hired was considerably shorter....

Should i stick with it or sell it and get something shorter?

Cheers
Mick

Hey, well I have a few questions for you about this board size issue.
1) What is your shoe size?
2) What is the waist width of the board (in cm)?
3) How old are you?

Also, you mentioned about a great deal.  So where did you get it from?

Thanks for the speedy reply
I take a size 9US snowboard boot
the waist width is 25cm
and i am 21

I bought the board second hand at an auction......its in awesome condition and it only cost me $230 Australian so i am guessing that is about $170 US....which included burton freestyle bindings and sims boots (perfect fit) and a nitro board bag...........

So you are 21 years of age, so you will most likely not be sprouting any taller.
You are 173CM tall, and 73kg (approx 161 pounds) (approx 5' 7"), and the board is 163cm.
Your feet are US sz9 and thebaord is 25cm at the waist.

I am sorry to say the board is too big for you.  Only slightly, but enough to make a difference.  You want a board about 6-10cm shorter and waist width 24.7cm to 24.8cm IMO.  On a board like that you will have a MUCH better time on the snow, and hey - that's what it's all about, right?
