A chick with a dude's board?
« on: February 12, 2007, 09:47:15 PM »
I was just wondering if I could pull off riding a men's board. I'm not too big on women's boards mainly because I have pretty big feet. Are there any huge differences between the boards? Also I'm a beginning looking for good package deals for my boyfriend and I (we are both very broke college students so the cheaper the better!) I'm just under 5'8, 145-150lbs, size 10-11 in women's shoes (though I usually wear mens because I am also flat footed and they offer me more room). My boyfriend is about 5'9, 150-155lbs, size 9 shoe. What would you suggest???

Yeh, a chick can ride a dude's board -- especially if chick has 10.5+ boot size.  The difference would also be the men's board will typically be a slightly stiffer flex and a little heavier.  That would just make the board a little better for freeride than freestyle.

As for package deals at best prices, I suggest The House.  Just go there and check out their "Snowboard Packages".  They have a few packages there under $350 which is Awesome.  I like Rossi (Rossignol) and Sims snowboards for best value.

I just checked at The House and they have a  Rossignol Legion Snowboard Package:
-  Rossignol Legion Snowboard (154cm)
-  Morrow Dimension Bindings
-  Airwalk Pirate Boot

 Reg: $ 557
The House Price: $ 279
Item #rossignol-legion-pkga-06

That package is a virtual steal and should be great for him.

For Her is a great deal on  Sims Citrine Snowboard Package:
-  Sims Citrine Snowboard (152cm)
-  The Sims Optic Snowboard Binding
-  Sims Future Women's Snowboarding Boots

 Reg: $ 538
The House Price: $ 349
Item #sims-citrine-pkh-07

You may notice that chicks' stuff costs a little more than men's stuff.   That's mainly due to the men's stuff being sold at larger volume.

Have fun out on the snow!

Thanks a bunch for the reply! I just have a few more questions... Do you know anything about the Atomic Fallen Angel 152 board? A few people have told me to check it out, and thus far it's the only women's board I like. I know it has a 25.1 waist size, could I rock that? And what about the Ride Kink men's borad? My boyfriend seems to be hooked on that.

Atomic boards rock big time from what I hear.  I have never ridden Atomic boards only because they are all too wide.  They all seem to be mid-wides to wides -- it's a shame.  IMO I would not exceed 24.7cm waist width if I were you.  Stay below that for sure.

I have not ridden the Ride Kink board, but it looks awesome.  Again at 25.5 waist width it is too wide for him.  With a 9 boot he should stay close to 24.8.  I really respect Ride boards.  They are totally bomb-proof.

Have you tried the sizing calculator?
