question on turning
« on: November 02, 2008, 08:50:32 PM »
ok so ive snowboarded proly 5-6 times.  and done black diamonds with little difficulty... yet i cant turn toeside.  im constantly turing heelside and if i need to turn the other direction i simply go into fakie and do heelside the other direction.  now, though ive been able to use this method effectively and do black diamonds as ive said... im thinking it will be better to have both ways goin for me.

So i guess are there and specfic tips about turning toeside?  im not sure why i cant do it as well so im not sure how specific i can get about why its difficult for me.

Welcome to the Frosty Rider forums!  You really need to get the board turning both ways.  That way you can get into carving -- especially in greens and blues.

We can definitely help you get going on to your toeside.  Can you go into some detail as to what happens when you try?  Any more info will help us get the idea.

Salska, I totally have this problem as well.  I find that I cannot seem to get my front foot to go straight down the hill, I always seems to come to an almost stop. I have only been out three times, and a friend has gotten me to go down side to side on healside and then toe side, then try to go down switching from toe side to heal side...
For me as I said earlier I fakie ( I believe the term is) until about 1/2 way down the hill until I finally can manover the front of my board to face down...
Please help as this is completely frustrating the crap out of me... :x lol
In time I know I will get it but any tips would be awesome!!
Thank you  :D
If you don't fall at least once, you aren't trying hard enough!

Yea imo tough side is a lil tougher to learn.  I think whats really important is just to commit to the turn.
Try to rotate your upper body a lil as well
