--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Keep your board under your body.
- Land both feet down or a little on the tail first (think like a motocross)
- STOMP the landing to make the edge stick in
- Practice

hey Frosty! I was out for about 7 hours yesterday and worked on those tips. I was even able to land a few actual jump jumps. Going airborn (even though not very much) is way more fun than just going down the hill!
i was reading some other posts and came across one about UV protection for your eyes. would you advise amber tint goggles or shaded or what?
thnks! i'm now a happy boarder!

Glad you liked the tips burtonboy. ROCK ON!
As for the UV protection, any lense (be it clear, shaded, plastic, polycarbonate, or whatever) will provide you with UV protection. Tint IS important, but more of a personal preference. Maybe I will do an article on that.

Yeh, for 180's just practice on flat groomers going slow. Then going faster, then over rollers. Get good like that first then take those skills to the park and jumps. For 3's, just get more air and spin.

If you are on a rail and feel like your board is starting to slip out from under you, try to eject cleanly to the side. Push off a little so you can get enough air to adjust and get your board steered straight ahead again. As with any landing, a slight "stomp" and the end is good for setting the board in it's path.

A lot of landing without crashing is being comfortable with high speeds. You gain speed in the air, so if you jump something that gets you going faster by the time you land than you are comfortable with, you are going to get scared, sit down, and crash. You have to be able to ride at the speed you are going to land at, so practicing going fast will help you land bigger jumps.

Good point pdx82, being comfortable with speed is a big part of learning to land jumps -- especially bigger ones. Also, with speed control just keep in mind that you cannot stop on a dime. Slowing down quickly is going to make you wreck a lot, so choose a line where you have plenty of space to control your speed -- whether that be trying to slow down or gain more spped for the next jump.
