I have been thinking about getting a chest protector because I am sick of having bruised ribs but I don't want a big bulky thing. I want something that is very low profile that fits nicely under my coat. Any suggestions?

There are a few different kinds of chest protectors out there that are made for other activities like hockey and paintball. I would assume they work just as well for snowboarding.
See here for a variety of chest protective gear
