Video Reviews

I figure we should start a video review page. List the name of the video and
the company and props and dislikes and such, so other riders will know what
to stay away from, and what to get stoked on!

And lets throw in an added bonus, if you get a video that a member recommended
and you liked it, stoke them! If you don't, diss them. (This will need Frosty's approval,
so we'll wait for that).

So how about rules, 1 video per post, and no double posting. You should have to
wait until someone else posts a video recommendation to post another recommendation.

If this fly's, I'll start her off....and much to many's surprise, its not a FORUM video!

I watched "Last Winter" ironically last winter, and I have to say its an OK film.
If you want to watch a bunch of women tour the world and ride in some really awesome
locations, with alot of back country, then this is the video for you. The girls moves
are not very technical, and the whole thing is very down to earth, showing follies and
complete fails, but the Roxy/Quicksilver girls really have a very clean style about them.
Oh, and even though it says Torah Bright is in the video, its just some competition footage
and a small talking segment, so if you're in it for her, don't expect much.
3/5 stars. The video says its by the "ChunkyKnit girls", but they ride the Roxy bus everywhere
through Europe, so I'm not sure who exactly made this film. But it does make you feel like
you're tagging along with the girls instead of watching them on tv thanks to the odd camera
angles.

Btw, the girls are cute!

Nice idea Travz//
I have been thinking of somehow working the FR reviews into the Forum and then in turn feeding that section into the Reviews section of the site.  This Snowboarding Video Reviews thing is a great idea/addition to the FR reviews.  Sometimes I want to buy a vid online that is a good price but have no idea if it is any good or not.

I can toy with the new feeds/data-management stuff about it in the meantime.

What do you mean by this?

Frosty-
I'm the same way. i bought 3 videos from itunes that were horrible, but i bought them
because of the reviews the users were leaving on itunes. There was this one, which
was the reason i brought up the stoke/diss thing, where everyone gave it 5 stars that
was a snowboarding flick....with no snowboarding! I'm serious, there were snowboards
in the background, but it was just a bunch of kids talking about their adventures, but
no footage to back it up. and it was $9.99. I'll get back to you about the name of that
one.

The stoke/diss thing was like, If you bought the recommended video and you thought
that the review was complete b/s, instead of starting a flame post you can diss the user
that recommended it and post your own review, instead of outright saying "so and so
doesn't know what they're talking about, this movie blows and they're an idiot". I thought
it might be a good way to keep the anger down since that stuff is anonymous, so there
would be no way to really fight about it. I've seen some pretty bad videos that have
made me really angry lol.

I agree with everything except the stoke/diss part.  Actually I do agree with your logic about responses, but I just don't think it is appropriate to use the forums' main respect level gauge for it.  Maybe there is some other way.  I got it, as mods, we can make sure all reviews have a Poll attached to them for agree/disagree.  How about that?

Here is a mock up of what a review could be like.
