Lets see what everyones got!
Name your favorite trick. Any one at all, and if its something you created, post pics so we can see the
new freshness. Maybe we can even include a "how to".
My all time favorite trick:
Off of a decent size kicker, a switch backside 180 method or mute. They're not hard, except the method, which
just really takes time to learn, not difficult. I like lien grabs as a variation as well, but mostly frontside (looks cleaner).
Why do I like this trick the best? I think they're just ultra tight, especially if you're good at them and can hold em
out for long periods of time.
Trick tip - You really dont have to do this switch, I just like to add it for props. If you do want to try this switch but arnt
a strong switch rider, you can always toe tap over to switch position right before you line up. Or for extra style points,
line up, then toe tap over to switch on the take off.
Now for the 180. Regular 180's are pretty straight forward. Its one of those tricks that if you commit, you'll probably
land it. Backsides are no different. You're blind for the take off, but remember, you'll be back around way before the
landing so dont be scared. Then, when you get that down, start tweaking it. Sometimes i'll drag my back hand on
the takeoff and do the whole trick horizontal to the ground. you just have to remember to correct for the laid back
position. Don't be afraid to jetski if you take this route. I usually land almost all tail and use my hand against the snow
to balance myself back out.
The grab is really basic. Mute, just reach down inbetween your bindings. Very simple. Technically I think mutes are
strictly backside spin grabs, I havent seen many frontside mutes. but technically, you can do it.
Methods are a bit trickier, as you do need air time to pull this off. you can do method taps on small jumps, just dont
expect to hold it. Come up to the jump ready to throw 180, once the board leaves the ramp start pulling the board up
back behind you, reach behind you with your front hand and grab the board on the heelside edge between the
bindings. Start small and just work on getting the grab and releasing, and when you get better, try pulling it further
and further. you can even try shifting the board to give it your own little signature points.
I'm excited for the season, as you all can probably tell haha.
hope to hear more of you guys fav tricks!
