- An Introduction To Wakeboarding
« on: March 21, 2011, 05:00:24 PM »
Wakeboarding is a popular water sport that includes some characteristics of surfing, water skiing and snowboarding. A wakeboard is typically towed behind a boat or watercraft, has slim underside fins, boot-style bindings and is ridden sideways just like a snowboard or skateboard.  The rider can ride the wakeboard backwards (regular or goofy footed), skim over the wake of the water and jump waves.

In the 1980s skurfing, which was a combination of water skiing and surfing, became popular.  A boat would pull a rider on a surfboard.  Wakeboarding essentially evolved from skurfing.  Wakeboarding is a fun and satisfying sport.  One of the largest venues are local lakes near cities or anywhere where water skiing is allowed.
